I worked late one night and decided to stop at 7-Eleven to get a drink to keep me awake on my drive home. It was only a 20 minute drive to my house, but I was so very tired. I went to get my money out of my billfold and through squinting eyes I noticed our “soul-winning card” where I always keep it. The Lord said, “Ask her those questions.”
I took my card out, with my eyes still squinting, and said with zero personality, on empty and tired, “Do you live in the area?”
She said, “Yes”.
Then I asked her – with zero personality, on empty and tired – “Do you go to church in the area?”
She said, “No.”
Then I asked her – with zero personality, on empty and tired – “If you died today, where would you go?”
She said, “I don’t know.”
I shared with her the following scriptures – with zero personality, on empty, and tired -
Romans 3:23 (New International Version) “All have sinned…”
Romans 6:23 (New International Version) For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus
Romans 10:13 (New International Version) “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
After I shared these scriptures with her, I extended my hand and told her to pray this prayer aloud with me:
“Heavenly Father, I believe that Jesus died on the Cross for me and rose again. I give you my life. I want Jesus Christ to come into my life and into my heart. Amen.”
She got saved! And do you know what? Her name was Mary Anna – my mother’s name!
It was The Word that got her saved! The Gospel is the power unto salvation!
